About Obsidian
A workout tracker built by someone who actually needed one.
Obsidian started because most workout tracker apps either locked basic features behind a subscription or bloated the app with AI coaches that nobody asked for. Our workout tracker focuses on doing the basics very well without locking any features behind a paywall. One person, no investors, no growth targets.
Why it exists
Most workout trackers fall into two camps. Free apps that show ads and nag you to upgrade, or paid apps that charge $10 a month for things like progress charts and CSV export.
Obsidian is different. Workouts, workout programs, progress charts, export, and the full exercise library are free. No ads, no upsells, no premium tier hiding behind a toggle. The entire app is available the moment you open it.
Who it is for
People who train seriously to improve. Tracking progressive overload on barbell lifts, working through calisthenics progressions from pull-ups to planche, or timing static holds to hit new PRs. Running structured programs with multiple blocks and being able to export your full workout history to visualize your progress in whatever software you like.
If you have ever kept a training log in a notes app or spreadsheet because existing trackers were not good enough, this is built for you.
How it is built
Obsidian is a local-first web app. Your data lives on your device by default. You can start logging immediately without creating an account. If you want cloud backup and sync across devices, you can create a free account later and your existing data comes with you.
We don't track or sell your data.
