Install on phone

Obsidian runs in your browser and can be installed like an app on iPhone, iPad, and Android.

Installing Obsidian adds an icon to your home screen and opens the workout log in full screen, without the browser address bar. It is the same app you use on the web, with offline-friendly caching where your browser supports it.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  • Open Obsidian in Safari.
  • Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  • Confirm the name and tap Add.

Launch Obsidian from your home screen icon. Safari is required for install on iOS. Chrome on iOS does not support Add to Home Screen the same way.

Android (Chrome)

  • Open Obsidian in Chrome.
  • Tap the menu (three dots), then "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".
  • Follow the prompts to confirm.

Some Android browsers show an install banner automatically when the site supports installation.

Desktop

Chrome and Edge on desktop may offer "Install" in the address bar. This opens Obsidian in its own window, useful if you log workouts on a laptop at the gym.

Guest data and installs

Guest workouts stay in the browser profile where you installed. If you use both Safari and Chrome on the same phone, they keep separate data. For sync across devices, create a free account. See guest mode.

Troubleshooting

  • If you do not see Add to Home Screen, make sure you are in Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android.
  • Update your browser to the latest version.
  • Visit the FAQ or contact us if install options are missing.

Open the app to get started before you install.
